H1N1 update

During the H1N1 scare some time ago, I wrote in this post that I chose not to be vaccinated because the vaccine had no proof of its efficacy.  As an interesting post script to that saga, a report investigating the WHO response to H1N1 was released today.

In the report are the repeated allegations that several members of the WHO advisory panel were on the payroll of Roche and GlaxoSmithKline, the two companies that make the vaccine.  A spokesman for the WHO  Gregory Hartl said “We feel that the guidelines produced were certainly not subject to undue influence.”  That’s super.

Business as usual at the UN.

The last people I would trust to make health decisions for me would be some politically appointed government committee. I am not about to surrender control over my health to people like this.

If only it were a post-script! I doubt we’ve heard the last on flu scares from the culture of fear. As the shine continues to wear on terrorism—and the economy continues to resist reverse-engineering by those authorized to so attempt—I expect to hear a lot more from the various strains of won’t-somebody-please-think-of-the-children.
